ABOUT

Coeur Noir Specialty Printers was founded in 2003 by Alex Kasavin and Konstantin Grab.

We first opened exclusively as a letterpress studio, focused on fine art printing. As the number of artist prints grew, some of those artists built amazing careers for themselves, and we soon started receiving requests for commercial and personal projects at a rate we couldn't ignore. We made the decision to take those projects on—with the condition that we hold every project to the same rigorous standards to which we hold our fine art work.

Over the years we’ve expanded the scope of our services to include foil stamping, embossing and debossing, spotcolor offset lithography, and a number of specialty finishing techniques, such as Pantone and foil edging, beveling, and die cutting: all of which we hold to those same standards we held when we first opened our doors. In 2007 we welcomed a partner, Michael Louie, to the Coeur Noir family, and have since tripled the size of our production team of dedicated and highly skilled craftspeople.

Today our fine art work can be found in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Institution, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim, the Whitney, and countless galleries and private collections around the world. Our commercial clientele grew and now includes companies like Tiffany & Co, Chanel, Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan, Rick Owens, Thom Browne, Microsoft, YouTube, and Pentagram Design. We’ve had the privilege of being a part of thousands of marriages, printing invitations for all those happy couples, as well as just as many personal projects of practically every description and scope imaginable. Please take a look at our galleries of some of the work we’ve produced over the years.

From fine art to commercial and personal projects, we take as much pride in every business card and invitation we produce as we do in the most elaborate art print. We update both our website and Instagram feed regularly with whatever happens to capture our imaginations at the moment. Hopefully you like what you see.
